2011 EGC Show

2011 Edible Garden Container Photo Show

This year's photo contest produced a great crop of submissions! Toronto Green Community, Riverdale Food Working Group and Toronto Balconies Bloom are pleased to showcase the Contest Winners and Sponsors and Prizes here. Enjoy the enthusiasm of winners, award sponsors and celebrity garden judges for producing food in small spaces.

"What a great contest! I am excited to see so much success growing edibles in containers; to see amazingly creative containers including a purse, desk drawers and a shoe bag; and to see an unexpected crop such as rice." Contest judge Steven Biggs

"When it comes to finding containers for growing plants, you’re only limited by your imagination. That’s the delightful can-do spirit shown by entrants!" Contest judge Aldona Satterthwaite

"The entries for this year’s photo contest were fantastic. I especially liked seeing how many people used recycled materials and other inventive types of planting containers. I appreciated the simplicity of a well-tended lemon balm in a drawer and a perennial garlic chive as well as the larger and more unusual plants. It was also interesting to see that multiple gardeners used containers within a larger space or in combination with their on-the-ground gardens." Contest judge Lara Mrosovsky

Browse through the images and stories of container gardens produced from the hearts, minds, eyes, limbs, appetites and energy of enthusiasts for growing crops in pots!
